Bengaluru: Alert woman helps police nab husband's kidnappers

Based on their information the police rescued Muniraju and reunited him with his family in Sunkadakatte.

Bengaluru: An alert housewife with the help of police brought her husband's kidnappers to book. In a swift action, the Kamakshipalya police, with the help of credible information given by victim’s wife, arrested a 28-year-old salesman and his younger brother for allegedly abducting their employer for a ransom of Rs 3 lakh on Monday.

The accused Kalyan (28), and his brother Maruthi (26), natives of Bagepalli, were working as mobile salesman in a shop in Sunkadakatte owned by Muniraju (35) and living in a rented house in Basavapura in Electronics city. According to the police the duo had embezzled cash from the shop and when Muniraju demanded explanation, they had assured to return it in installments. When the duo failed to do so, Muniraju threatened to approach the police.

This enraged the duo decided to abduct and demand more money from his wife and as per the plan the duo forced Muniraju into an goods auto-rickshaw near his house and took him to an isolated house in Bagepalli and locked him up after tying his hands and legs. The duo later called Pavithra, wife of Muniraju posing as unknown kidnappers and demanded '3 lakh for his safe release.
However, Pavitra showed presence of mind and soon found out that the duo were missing since the kidnapping and filed a complaint with the police. The police swung into action and went to their home town and with the help of the parents of the accused trapped the duo.

Based on their information the police rescued Muniraju and reunited him with his family in Sunkadakatte. The accused Kalyan and Maruthi have been booked under kidnap, unlawful detention and criminal intimidation and remanded them to judicial custody, said the police.
