Cat kidnapped from Neredmet, owner suspects killing for meat

HYDERABAD: A two-year-old Indie cat Sweetu, was allegedly kidnapped by three unidentified men, from a gated community at Neredmet of Rachakonda commissionerate in the city. The cat’s owner Ruth Varsha Talluri, working for a commercial airline, suspects the kidnappers had killed the pet for meat.

She lodged a complaint with Neredmet police station and has also submitted footage showing the suspects carrying the pet in a bag leaving their house and also the suspects speeding from the spot on a scooter.

Ruth Varsha, who owns nine indie cats and a few dogs at her house located in a gated community said that two days ago, when she was away at work and her mother was alone at home, the suspects jumped over the gate and kidnapped it.

They got to know only a day later, when they checked the CC footage at their home. “ In August also, three men jumped into our house and tried to kidnap a cat, but my mother noticed it and foiled their attempt. Since then we have CCTVs at our home,” she said.

She says that on inquiry, she found that the suspects belong to a particular community, who kill cats, squirrels and birds for meat and consume them.

She appealed to the police to nab the suspects and take strict action against them. “ If strict action is not taken against them, they might kidnap or harm my other pets also,” she added.

Neredmet Inspector A.Narsimha Swamy said they started an investigation into the incident and will soon nab the suspects.
