Thiruvananthapuram: A teenage boy stabbed his mother with a compass and  injured her on her  neck and belly in front of the secretariat  on  Thursday morning.  The victim was identified as Deepa, 35,  of Puliyarakonam who works as a  staffer at a reputed supermarket chain close to Palayam.   The police who arrested the  class XII student said  he had entered into a heated argument with her in front of the secretariat south gate  around 11 a.m. He stabbed her and was attempting to attack her again when he was neutralised by the  pedestrians.

The severely bleeding woman was rushed to the Medical College Hospital in an autorickshaw. The boy was provoked by her relationship with another man.  “Her  relatives said that her husband had left her several years ago. Recently, another man had started to live with the family. The boy resisted this as his 15-year-old sister was staying with them. The boy  was thrown out of  his house three days back and was living at a relative’s house.   He had come to the city to persuade his mother to keep off the relationship,  police officials said. The boy was produced before a juvenile court. The Medical College officials said that the woman was out of danger.
