Accused let off from Ramya mishap case

Hyderabad: K. Vishnu Vineeth, an engineering student who allowed his inebriated friend, R. Shravil, to drive his car that went on to ram another vehicle, killing three persons, was named as the second accused in the case, but was later discharged.

The victim’s family cried foul, alleging that Vineeth was aware that Shravil did not have a licence either. The police said that they have challenged the discharge order in the High Court.

The victim’s family alleged that Vineeth belonged to an influential family and used the machinery in his favour by proclaiming his innocence to get discharged. Further, the police failed to oppose it despite having strong evidence against him, they alleged.

“It was only after I continuously pleaded with them that they moved the High Court challenging the discharge order,” P. Venkat Ramana, who lost his daughter in the 2016 incident, said.

Police officials said their petition challenging the discharge was admitted and it might come up soon for a hearing. “We will produce all the evidence against the accused in the case and ensure that he gets punished in the court,” an officer said.
