Hyderabad: Police arrested a 42-year-old man on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his 80-year-old father in August. The accused was identified as Syed Mustafa Ali, 42, of King Koti. He was absconding since the murder, police said.
Mustafa had previously undergone treatment for mental illness, police said.
Police said that Mustafa Ali had murdered his father, Syed Mansoor Ali, on the intervening night of August 16 and 17 by smashing his head with a large stone while he was sleeping at their home in Paradagate area of Nacharam.
Mustafa Ali locked the door and absconded.
The body was found by locals who informed the police who booked a case under IPC Section 302 (murder) and an investigation was taken up by the Narayanguda police. Mustafa Ali was arrested on Wednesday.
“According to Mustafa Ali, he murdered his father as he was repeatedly asking him to go to work and not giving him any money for his personal needs, said ACP, Abids, G. Biksham Reddy.
