Hyderabad: The Cyberabad She Teams said they had received 75 complaints in October, 24 of them being harassment over phone. Police said they received 50 complaints over WhatsApp and others via email, HawkEye, direct walk-in etc. Following investigations, police booked 71 individuals including seven minors and 31 in the age group of 25 to 35 years.
Officials said that they had conducted 474 decoy operations at bus stops, shopping malls, railway stations, tutorials, colleges and other places and caught 17 individuals red-handed. “We have conducted 393 awareness programmes conducted and addressed 26,443 people. We warned individuals to change in 20 petitions. We also stopped two child marriages,” a police official said.
One of the cases included the arrest of the faculty of a private college in Madhapur, identified as Aravinda, who was harassing and misbehaving with an intermediate student. In another case, Arun Kumar, a private employee from Hitec City, was arrested for harassing the daughter of his house owner over the phone.
