New Delhi: The body of a 42-year-old lance havildar in the army was found at a bus stand in north-west Delhi's GT Karnal Road under mysterious circumstances this afternoon.
The deceased, identified as Subhash Chandra, had returned from his home town Jammu to Delhi after celebrating Diwali and had deboarded the bus at the bus stop, said a senior police officer.
He was posted as a Lance Havildar in the Delhi unit. His body was spotted at the bus stop by a passerby around 1.30 pm who made a PCR call, police said.
"Prima facie, it doesn't look that he was murdered by someone who wanted to rob him. All his belongings, including his wallet, ID card, ATM card and money were found intact. There were no external injury marks found on his body. There was a scratch mark found on his back but it doesn't suggest foul play and looks like the mark from an injury sustained due to a fall," said the officer.
Chandra was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital where his body has been preserved for autopsy. His family members in Jammu have been informed and once they arrive here, the post-mortem will be carried out.
"It looks like a case of natural death. We will get to know the exact cause of death after the autopsy," he added....
