Bengaluru: CCB raids yield Rs 11.4 lakh, 147 gamblers arrested
Bengaluru: CCB sleuths, along with jurisdictional police, raided four clubs for running illegal gambling racket, arrested 147 gamblers and seized Rs 11.41 lakh cash on Sunday.
The CCB, which has been cracking down on illegal gambling, received a tipoff that clubs in Jayanagar and Rajarajeshwarinagar police limits were violating rules by allowing gambling within their premises. At the Media Club of Karnataka, CCB sleuths arrested 78 gamblers and seized Rs 2.42 lakh cash and token worth Rs 6 lakh. At the Karnataka Strategic Games and Cultural Association Club in Jayanagar, the police arrested 29 gamblers and seized Rs 1,42,210 cash. At Best Club in Rajarajeshwarni Nagar, the police arrested 25 gamblers and seized Rs 1,42,410. At the BDSA Club, they arrested 15 gamblers and seized Rs 15,500 cash. Cases were registered against these clubs at respective police stations.
CCB officers from the anti-rowdy squad raided several bars and restaurants and arrested 36 rowdies. They received a tip-off that rowdies were meeting at bars and restaurants in Rajajinagar, Magadi Road and Hanumantha Nagar police limits.
