Hyderabad: Techie killed as van rams bike

According to the police, the victim was on his way home, in Alwal, at around 7 am on Saturday after his night shift.

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old software engineer employed with Google died in a road accident while he was returning from work when the bike he was riding rammed into a DCM van containing CNG cylinders early on Saturday. The Pet Basheerabad police have identified the victim as Suraj Singh, 27, resident of Macha Bollaram.

According to the police, the victim was on his way home, in Alwal, at around 7 am on Saturday after his night shift.

The victim tried to overtake the vehicle which was in front of him in the stretch between Suchitra and Loyola College. He did not notice the DCM coming. Sub-inspector Gangadhar, Pet Basheerabad, said, “In trying to avoid the DCM he went extreme right and started driving in the wrong direction. However he could not escape death as his head hit the side of the DCM accidentally and the helmet which he was wearing broke and he sustained a head injury.”

The locals immediately rushed him to a nearby private hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Based on a complaint by his father Sohan Singh, the police have registered a case under section 304(a) and a probe is underway.

The police handed over the body to the family members after a postmortem at Gandhi Hospital.
