Nellore: Children killed in father's suicide bid
Nellore: In a tragic incident, a father attempted suicide along with his three children by jumping into a well on Friday allegedly worried over the future of his kids because his wife eloped with her lover at Kamireddypadu village of Ananthasagaram mandal in SPSR Nellore district. While two children identified as N. Haritha, 8-years-old, N. Keerthi, 7-years-old died and Premakumari, a 4-year-old girl and the father N. Penchalarathnam, 33 have been battling for life at the hospital. According to locals N. Penchalarathnam belongs to Kamireddypadu SC colony and he had married about a decade back. The couple were blessed with three children.
In a bid to make money for the family, Penchalarathnam had gone to Kuwait and has been working their for more than a year. In the absence of her husband, Bhanu developed an extra marital affair with a person who happened to be their close relative living in the village. Penchalarathnam was shocked when he learnt about his wife’s affair with the relative after he returned to the village. Bhanu eloped along with her paramour when Penchalarathnam demanded an explanation towards her intimate relationship with the relative.
Depressed over the incident and worried over the plight of the children if something happens to him, the dejected Penchalarathnam decided to end his life along with the children. He offered pesticide to the three children and pushed them into a well in the village and later he also jumped into the water. Some passersby noticed this and managed to rescue Premkumari and Penchalarathnam and shifted them to the hospital. The other two kids were drowned in the well. The bodies have been recovered and sent for postmortem.
Somasila Sub Inspector Siva Rakesh said they have registered a case and the investigating.
