Infant killed by mother due to mental illness

Following this, they questioned Prasanna, who allegedly confessed to having killed her child

Warangal: The police on Tuesday dismissed the allegation of chain-snatching leading to the death of a 10-month-old infant and said that the girl’s mother killed her as the child was suffering from a mental illness since birth.

On Monday, the woman N. Prasanna, and her husband, N. Bhaskar, filed a police complaint over a chain-snatching incident in Ambedkar Nagar Colony of Jangaon district.

The police said that they could not spot a chain snatcher or any other person in the colony at the alleged time of the incident.

Following this, they questioned Prasanna, who allegedly confessed to having killed her child. She alleged chain snatching to divert the attention of the police, said Jangaon DCP Sitaram in a press meet on the case.

The police lodged a case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, based on Bhaskar’s complaint, against Prasanna.
