Infant falls off mother’s hand, dies in chain-snatching incident

After she raised the alarm, locals helped recover the infant from the tank and shifted her to a hospital

Warangal: A 10-month-old infant slipped off her mother’s hands, fell into a water tank and died in a chain-snatching incident at Ambedkar Nagar Colony of Jangaon district on Monday.

The woman, identified as Nadigoti Prasanna, was walking on the road when the incident took place.

After she raised the alarm, locals helped recovered the infant from the tank and shifted her to a hospital, where the infant was declared brought dead.

The police lodged a case on a complaint filed by the woman and her husband.

However, locals raised questions about the incident, saying that the woman was alone at her home and there was no one else on the street during the time of the incident.

The police said they are accessing CCTV camera footages to ascertain the sequence of events. They are also probing if there were any disputes between the woman and her husband, which could have led to the infant being killed on purpose.
