Hyderabad: Three people, including the leader of one of the four criminal gangs hailing from Gujarat, have been arrested by the Meerpet police on Wednesday. The six-month effort to trace the accused involved in a burglary at Meerpet resulted in the arrest of the accused and puts an end to the rumours of Chaddi gang on the prowl in the state, said the police.
In September 2017, the house of one Aruna, wife of a techie living at Sri Sai Balaji Homes apartment, was looted by the members of Chaddi gang. Since then, the police was untiringly pursuing the case in order to nab the suspects, based on the evidence available with them, including footage of CCTV cameras, fingerprints and previous cases.
While the probe was underway, a member of the Chaddi gang was nabbed in an old case in which the culprits had adopted a similar modus operandi.
The interrogation of the arrested gave the police team some leads. The team, including three inspectors, visited Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat for about six months. It finally ended up in the arrest of three persons from Sahada village in Gujarat.
The police said that the arrested have been identified as Parmar Kishan Badhiya, Parmar Ravoji Badhiya and Ganava Bharath Singh, who are natives of Sahada village. Kishan leads one of the four gangs that operates in the Telugu states, said the police. Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said on Wednesday that the gang committed a total of 28 offences including eight at Rachakonda, four at Cyberabad, one in Hyderabad and 15 in Andhra Pradesh.
Three members of the gang were earlier arrested in Bowenpally in 2012, Medipally in 2014 and Saroornagar in 2016, but the investigators did not realise that they belonged to the Chaddi gang.
“With the arrest of the gang members, we assure the public that they are safe and can claim that no gang can escape arrest after committing offences. The public need not fear anymore about these gangs,” said the commissioner.
The police teams recovered 100 gm gold, one kg silver, Rs 3,000 in cash, two bows, five arrows and two axes from the gang members who have been remanded.
