TRS leaders' kin attack toll staff
Hyderabad: LB Nagar TRS in-charge Rammohan Goud and B.N. Reddy corporator Lakshmi Prasanna’s son Manish Goud and his friends created a ruckus at the Kadthal toll plaza on the Srisailam- Hyderabad highway and attacked the toll plaza staff when they were asked to pay toll. While one of them attacked an employee with a knife, others including Manish assaulted the staff.
The incident happened on Monday night when the suspects were returning to Hyderabad after partying in Maisigandi village. The victims said the suspects were heavily drunk. They were arrested for attempt to murder and remanded.
M. Manish Goud and his five friends D. Arun Kumar Reddy, Nishith Sai, Saiteja Reddy, Saikumar and Anirush, all engineering students, went to Maisigandi village. They gathered at an under construction function hall belonging to Rammohan Goud to celebrate Saiteja’s birthday. After partying they started back home in a car. When they reached the toll plaza on the highway at Kadthal, Manish who was at the wheel saw vehicles in all the lanes, except one lane that was barricaded. They pushed aside the barricade and entered the lane.
Toll plaza supervisor Madaram Mahesh saw this and intercepted the vehicle. He told them to go through the correct lane, gave him a toll ticket and asked them to pay. This resulted in a heated argument between the suspects and Mahesh.
“They started beating me. One of them pulled out a knife and tried to stab me in my stomach twice but I defended myself and suffered injuries on both hands,” said Mahesh. His two colleagues Sunil Kumar and Venkatesh Goud rushed to his aid, but the suspects fled. Mahesh alerted the police.
“They were arrested. Mahender is recovering now,” Kadthal SI G. Srikanth said, adding that blood samples were sent for testing to know if the attackers were drunk.
Police said main accused Arun Kumar carried a knife with him always.
