Hyderabad: A college student and her relative, travelling in an auto rickshaw, thwarted an attempt to assault them by three persons who threatened the driver and entered the vehicle. They made physical advances to the two women who managed to get down from the vehicle and one of them recorded the incident on her mobile. Seeing this, and the number of passersby who had gathered, the men fled.
The incident happened in Mailardevpally on Monday. A case for outraging the modesty of a woman was registered and a hunt is on to nab the men, who have been named as Zarar, Qamar and Sami.
According to the police, the women were on their way to Abids in the auto rickshaw when at Mailardevpally Gate, three youngsters on bikes intercepted the auto and threatened the driver who left the vehicle in the middle of the road and ran away. The women tried to get away but at first were stopped from doing so. One of the men threatened to kill the college student if she did not agree to marry him. They also passed lewd comments and abused the women.
