Drunk tries to rape teen in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A drunk 21-year-old allegedly attempted to rape a 16-year-old girl who was returning home from work. When she resisted, he filled her mouth with mud and hit on her head with a boulder and fled. The girl was talking on phone when she was attacked, and her friends who heard her shouting rushed to her rescue. Police arrested Vinay Kumar, a resident of Ashoknagar.
Police said the victim on her way home had alighted from an autorickshaw at a bus stop near her home. She then called a friend on the phone and began talking even as she began walking home. Police said the area was deserted.
Vinay who resides in her neighbourhood noticed her at the bus stop and followed her. After making sure that there was no one nearby, he attacked her.
“He pulled her into the bushes and when she resisted he filled her mouth with mud and pinned her to the ground and hit on her head with a boulder,” Meerpet inspector N. Ch Rangaswamy said.
Her friend with whom she was talking heard her shouting as the call was not disconnected. Her parents and neighbours were alerted and they rushed to the spot and found the victim lying unconscious in the bushes.
Vinay fled from the spot on seeing them. They shifted her to a hospital, where she is recovering from the ordeal, police said.
Based on a complaint, police registered a case for attempt to murder and Criminal Amendment Act 2013, nabbed Vinay Kumar and sent him to judicial remand on Monday. Police has begun investigations.
