Bengaluru: Brother-in-law, 5 others held for man's murder
Bengaluru: The C.K. Acchukattu police have cracked a kidnap and murder case and arrested six men, including a relative of the deceased. The prime suspect has revealed that the brother-in-law of the deceased gave a supari (contract) for the murder over a property dispute.
The accused are, S. Narasimha Murthy alias Narasimha alias Naresh, 24, Girish alias RX Giri, 21, Vishal Tejas alias Vaale, 21, all the three residents of V.B. Layout in K. R. Puram, B.C. Pradeep Kumar alias Akash, 27, of Kolar, Ghewar Ram, 29, of Gayatri Layout on Basavanapura Main Road and Arbaaz Pasha, 20, a resident of Old Police Station Road in K.R. Puram.
They have been accused of kidnapping and murdering Navamani, 55, a borewell compressor dealer and resident of Ittamadu. Navamani, who had gone to his office on June 7, had not returned home. When the search led nowhere, his wife Jyothi, a homemaker, filed a missing complaint with the C.K. Acchukattu police on June 23. She also suspected that her elder brother Chamaraja, his wife Lakshmi and her younger brother Narasimha might have kidnapped and murdered her husband as both the families had some property dispute.
“Based on her clue, Narasimha was traced as Chamaraja and Lakshmi were absconding. He confessed that his sister Lakshmi was Chamaraja’s second wife. When he divorced his first wife, in a bid to pay less alimony, Chamaraja had registered a residential plot as a gift deed to his sister Jyothi.”
“When he asked about the property a few years after his second marriage, Jyothi and her husband Navamani picked up a fight with him and there was a dispute between the families. Chamaraja and Lakshmi decided to finish off Navamani and contacted Narasimha for the job. They gave him the supari and also paid Rs 3 lakh as advance,” the police said.
“Narasimha confessed that he and his associates kidnapped Navamani in a car from near his office on June 7. They hacked him to death inside the car and dumped the body near Doddachinnahalli village near KGF. They also burnt the body after pouring petrol on it. Based on his confession, the other accused were also arrested. Later, Navamani’s wife identified the body with the help of a ring he was wearing,” the police said.
The police are on the lookout for Chamaraja and Lakshmi, who are absconding. Two cars and lethal weapons used in the crime and Rs 1.65 lakh cash have been seized from the accused.
