Ariyil Shukkoor murder case: Kerala High Court seeks case diary

AG informed the court that the state has already handed over the case diary to CBI soon after the court order.

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Friday directed the CBI to produce the case diary in Ariyil Shukkoor murder case. The Bench had earlier stayed the order of Single Judge handing over the case to CBI. When the case came up for hearing, Acting Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice Anu Shivaraman asked the Advocate General to produce the case diary. AG informed the court that the state has already handed over the case diary to CBI soon after the court order.

Considering the contention, the court asked counsel for CBI to produce the petition. Court is considering the appeal filed by P. Jayrajan and T.V. Rajesh, the two CPM leaders who are accused in the case. Abdul Shukkoor, an activist of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), was murdered allegedly by CPM activists at Keezhara in Kannur in February 2012.

Two CPM leaders are charged under Section 118 of the IPC (concealing design to commit offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life). The allegation was that CPM men were given the direction to 'handle' Shukkoor, from the hospital where Jayarajan and Rajesh were admitted after an alleged attack by the IUML sympathisers.
