Bengaluru: A city-based export and manufacturing company lost crucial data and emails, following an attack from malicious software on its servers and systems. The company CEO has now approached the Criminal Investigation Department.
Ketan S. Dhruv, the CEO of Bangalore Refinery (P) Ltd, a company based in Peenya industrial area which offers solutions to metal refining, gold coins and bars, jewellery findings, precious metal chemicals, gifts and investments and watches, was in for a shock after he discovered that crucial data had gone missing from the server. He approached the cyber crime wing of CID on Friday and lodged a complaint about the malware attack. Dhruv stated that the attack has affected the company’s work and requested the police to identify the culprit and take strict action.
The cyber crime police who have registered an FIR. They suspect that it could either be due to professional rivalry or a handiwork of some disgruntled staff of the company.
The police are also verifying the background of staff members who have access to the systems. They have sought details from the company about the staff members who have recently quit or got terminated.
“We have begun our investigations and checking the source of the malware software. Once we have that information, it would become easy for us to identify the culprit,” the police said....
