Bengaluru: The special investigating team (SIT), which was constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government to investigate the ‘murder’ of former IAS officer Anurag Tiwari on Thursday, arrived in Bengaluru along with his elder brother Mayank Tiwari.
The SIT visited the office of the Food & Civil Supplies on Cunningham Road and Vikas Soudha, examined some files and documents that were being handled by the late officer before he went for his mid career training at the IAS Academy in Mussorie in April.
Tiwari was posted as Commissioner, Food & Civil Supplies in January this year. The SIT questioned the officers and staff at both the locations and later went to the Department guest house in Sadashivanagar, where the late officer was staying before he left for Mussoorie. They spoke to the staff at the guest house and collected some documents in the presence of Mayank. Tiwari was found dead on the roadside near Meerabai government guest house in Lucknow on May 17.
Based on Mayank’s complaint that his brother was murdered, the UP police on May 22 had registered a murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against some unknown
persons. In his police complaint Mayank had stated that Anurag was under tremendous pressure for the last few months and had informed his family two months ago that his life was under threat.
The UP government had handed over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), but the CBI is yet to register the case.
