Hyderabad: A man killed his wife at his residence at Maheshwaram on Monday night.
The victim Aishwariya, 23, a housewife, had been married to accused K. Vittal, 28, about one-and-a-half years ago. Four months after their marriage, Vittal started harassing Aishwariya out of suspicion that she had an affair and for dowry.
She had lodged a complaint with the Shamshabad police over the issue. The couple was counselled and sent back together, said Maheshwaram inspector A. Man Mohan.
Her harassment however continued as Vittal kept suspecting the character of his wife, police said. Angry that she was not bringing additional dowry, the accused strangled her with her chunni at his residence.
Vittal was arrested and booked under relevant sections for murder and harassment for dowry. The post-mortem of the victim was conducted at Osmania hospital, police said.
