Telangana: 33-year-old IAF sergeant hangs himself to death at home

Dhiraj hailed from Bihar and was posted as a Sergeant at the Hakeempet Air Force Station under Alwal Police Station limits

Hyderabad: A 33-year-old sergeant of Indian Air Force on Monday committed suicide at his Air Force Station quarters in Hakeempet.

Dhiraj Kumar, who hanged himself, left a note in his personal diary stating that he was worried about his future and depressed, and that was leading him to take the extreme step.

According to police, Dhiraj hailed from Bihar and was posted as a Sergeant at the Hakeempet Air Force Station under Alwal Police Station limits. He had gone to his home on leave 14 days ago and reported back to work on Sunday.

On Monday morning, he got ready to join duty and told his colleagues that he would join them after some time.

After a couple of hours, he called his superior and said that he was feeling tired and could not work.

In the afternoon, when calls were made to his mobile phone to know about his condition, he did not answer.

“Despite repeated calls, when there was no response, his superiors sent Junior Warrant Officer V. Sharma and one more person to check what had happened. When they reached his quarters, they found him hanging from the ceiling on a rope,” Alwal inspector T. Anand Reddy said.

Based on a complaint from V. Sharma, a suspicious death case was registered and the body was sent for autopsy.

Police said he wrote in his diary that he was very worried about his future and since a few days the thoughts in his mind were like that of a 90-year-old, which led to depression. Police said that they would know more and if anything had happened during his trip home after they spoke to his family members.

Police said that Dhiraj Kumar was not married and is survived by his parents.
