Hyderabad: A 36-year-old man from Karnataka was sentenced to life imprisonment for setting ablaze his wife as she did not massage his feet.
According to Rachakonda police, Nimra mosque, Balapur, imam Gulam Mustafa, 36, hailing from Bidar district, set his wife Rukhia on fire on September 14, 2014, after she refused to massage his feet as she was unwell.
He poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.
Her neighbours rushed her to Osmania Hospital where she died after two days. The couple was married in 2008 and had two children, one of whom died due to illness.
He was convicted by the additional district judge court at LB Nagar, a statement said.
