Bengaluru: Seven armed dacoits robbed a family of gold and other valuables worth Rs 2.5 lakh at gunpoint at their residence at White City Colony in K.R. Puram in the early hours of Saturday. The robbers also attacked family members when they resisted.

The incident occurred around 3.30 am, when the robbers, armed with guns and other lethal weapons, barged into the house of Parthiban – an accountant with an MNC.

According to a complaint lodged by Parthiban at the K.R. Puram police station, he and three members of his family were sleeping when the robbers barged in.

The robbers broke the window next to the main door and unlocked the door to gain entry. Hearing the noises, Parthiban came out of his bedroom and was attacked by the gang.

The robbers also pushed his mother and wife away, who had come to Parthiban’s rescue, while locking his daughter in a room.

After the gang fled with the valuables, Parthiban, who was injured in the attack, alerted his neighbours, who informed the police. In the meantime, he was shifted to a private hospital for treatment.

The police arrived with the dog squad and inspected the spot. City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood and other senior officials too visited the crime scene. A special team has been formed to nab the accused.

The police collected the CCTV footage from nearby areas, but could not find substantial clues to proceed in the case, sources said.
