Ayesha Meera murder case: Autopsy reports ruled out rape
Hyderabad: The post-mortem report indicated that Ayesha Meera had died of a head injury caused by a chutney pounder. It stated that there was no struggle marks on the body and private parts — raising doubts of rape.
The post mortem report revealed that there was a sub-conjunctival petechial haemorrhage in both the eyes — indicative of asphyxiation.
The report said that rigor mortis was present all over the body and there were ant bites which indicated that the body was lying there for a long time.
Mr Pattabhi Vemulapati, High Court advocate who has appeared for Satyam Babu, said they had succeeded in proving that Ayesha’s death had happened in a totally different manner, and no rape took place before or after the death. He said that Ayesha was pushed against the wall, and the base of her skull was broken. This led to bleeding from her nose and mouth. Fearing that she might shout, the assailant smothered her, probably with a pillow, and she must have died of asphyxia.
He said that the ante-mortem injuries on her lips made it clear that when she was hit against the wall. Injuries on her lips indicated it was caused when she was pressed face-down against the pillow, throttled and suffocated. These were ante mortem injuries and not injuries after death.
The findings in the post mortem report made it out that the injuries could not have been caused by a chutney pounder, he said.
He said the prosecution had not explained the injury on both the outer and inner parts of the victim’s lower and upper left lips. He said it was impossible to imagine that the person who dragged the body of Ayesha from the main door to the bathroom, when she was bleeding and when there were blood stain drag marks, would not leave footprints.
This was a deliberate attempt by the prosecution to cover up the actual happenings and create a false scenario to misdirect the investigation, he said.
He contended that when medical evidence said that there were no injuries on the victim’s private parts, the question of any sexual intercourse was ruled out. As such, the allegation of rape was a fabrication, he said.
