According to the police, watchman Balaraman was admitted to a private hospital after the group of drunken teenagers assaulted him.
Police sources said that relationship issues could have driven the girl to take this extreme step.
Chennai: Police are hunting for a group of youngsters who allegedly assaulted a watchman of a school when he objected to they consuming alcohol on the government boys' school premises in Uthiramerur in the neighbouring Kancheepuram district.
According to the police, watchman Balaraman was admitted to a private hospital after the group of drunken teenagers assaulted him. Initially it was suspected that students staying in the hostel nearby consumed alcohol and had attacked Balaraman. But the school authorities later clarified that hostel was closed since the examination started.
The Uthiramerur police said they were on the lookout for the youngsters who attacked the watchman, appointed by the parents and teachers association.
