Hyderabad: A 23-year-old event organiser who allegedly blackmailed a girl by threatening to post her obscene picture on social media if she did not pay him walked into a trap set up by the LB Nagar police and was arrested on Friday.
Police said that K. Mahender of Tarnaka and the 22-year-old victim, a degree student, knew each other for more than a year. A few days ago, he started blackmailing the girl saying he would upload her obscene pictures on social media. He demanded that she hand over her gold jewellery as a pay off.
“The victim app-roached the police with the help of her parents. On the advice of the police, they told him to come to a bus stop near Kamineni Hospital to collect the jewellery” said LB Nagar sub inspector V. Narsimha Rao. Police who were waiting in civil clothes caught him while receiving the jewellery.
