Chennai: 22 sovereigns looted from house

Based on the complaint, police launched a search for the burglars.

Chennai: Burglars broke into a house at Anagaputhur in Pallavaram and decamped with cash on Friday morning.

Police said, “Baskar (44), resident of Kamatchi Nagar in Anagaputhur, is an electrician working for a private firm.

He had gone to the ration shop on Friday morning. When he returned around 3 pm, he was shocked to find the door locks open. He rushed inside and saw the bureau broken and valuables stolen.”

“There was no forced entry. Someone had used a duplicate key or just broke the lock,” they added.

The burglars escaped with 22 sovereigns of gold and Rs 10,000 in cash, said the complaint lodged by Baskar at Shankar Nagar police station.

Based on the complaint, police launched a search for the burglars.

Police suspect that the burglars could have noticed Baskar’s absence and carried out the robbery. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
