Hyderabad: Gopalpuram police arrested six persons on Friday in connection with the alleged kidnap of a 23-year-old man who had reportedly harassed a female software engineer working at Wipro over the phone.
The incident took place on Thursday at SD Road.
Following a complaint from V. Sai Kumar, a carpenter from Borabanda, the Gopalpuram police had registered a case of criminal conspiracy, kidnap and attempt to murder against six persons including the software engineer.
Police said Sai Kumar used to send messages on WhatsApp to the phone number of the techie, Pulleri Divya. When she blocked his phone number on WhatsApp, he began sending text messages making phone calls.
Vexed with this, Divya, informed her friend J. Rohith, a mechanic, who gathered four others, all residents of Malkajgiri.
As part of their plan, Divya asked Kumar to meet her in Secunderabad and took him on a bike to the railway quarters in Lallaguda where the group assaulted him.
