Six murders rock Bengaluru
Bengaluru: As the city was busy celebrating the New Year, as many as six murders took place in Bengaluru. A 23-year-old auto driver was stabbed to death by his seven friends during the New Year celebrations over a petty issue in Bellandur police limits. The police have arrested the six accused within two hours.
The deceased, Shivaram, was a resident of Kasavanahalli. The accused have been identified as Ram Kumar, 23, Mohamed Nazir, 22, Shridar, 22, Santos alias Santu, 24 and Vinod alias Chikkappa, 22.
The police said that his friends came near Shivaram's house to celebrate New Year. They cut a cake and drank when a fight broke out over a petty issue.
They then stabbed Shivaram in the chest and stomach. Passersby informed the police and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries.
Two murders in two different incidents were reported in JP Nagar police limits on the New Year's Eve. A 22-year-old student was stabbed to death by 10 miscreants while he was returning to his PG after the New Year celebrations in Shakambari Nagar in J.P. Nagar police limits.
The deceased, Amruth, 22, was a first year MBA student at BMS College and hailed from Sirsi. He was staying as a paying guest in Shakambari Nagar.
Around 1 am, ten people were celebrating New Year on the Pipeline Road of Shakambari Nagar and were cutting the cake when they saw Amruth who was walking alone in the street and attacked him.
Earlier around 11.30 pm, the group was partying in the same area when the residents complained. A Hoysalaya jeep came to the spot and chased them away.
The group returned after sometime to cut the cake and to celebrate the New Year. The group stabbed Amruth and escaped from the scene.
The gang could have tried to rob him before stabbing him and since there was no link between them, the police said.
In another incident, a 25-year-old was stabbed to death by his friend after a fight over a petty issue in the same police limits. The deceased, Hemanth, was a resident of Jaraganahalli and was working as a cab driver.
The accused, Amruth, works as a security guard. Amruth, Hemanth and his brother Ravi Kiran had gone out to drink at a bar near Sarakki Gate. After the party, Amruth and Hemanth came out, while Ravi went to get food. A fight broke out between the two over a petty issue. When Ravi returned, he joined Hemanth and started defending him. Amruth stabbed Hemanth and escaped.
Ravi rushed him to the nearby hospital where he died on Monday morning. In Cottonpet police limits, a 22-year-old was murdered near Anjanappa Garden by four men over Rs 5,000 loan which he had taken some time back.
The deceased, Vinith, was a resident of Anjanappa Garden and worked at a printing press. The accused, Appu, 23, was arrested by the police.
Appu and his friends went to Vinith’s house around 11.30 pm and started a fight when the four stabbed him and escaped.
A 27-year-old man was murdered by his friends over a petty issue during the New Year’s celebration at a construction site in Devagere Cross in Kumbalagodu police limits.
The deceased, Naveen Kumar, was a resident of Thagachaguppe and worked as a driver. Naveen and his friends were partying at the construction site and a fight broke out between them and his friends stabbed him with a knife and escaped.
A family feud led a drunk man to murder his wife by slitting her throat. He later tried to cut his own throat at their residence in AK colony in Banaswadi police limits on Sunday morning.
The deceased, Venkatalakshmi, 38, was from Jeevanahalli. Her husband Shankar, 45, has been admitted to a private hospital and is said to be serious.
The couple were living in Jeevanahalli and had shifted to the city one year ago. They have an 18-year-old son who was working at Kempapura.
On Sunday morning, Shankar came home drunk and picked up a fight with Venkatalakshmi. In a fit of rage, he went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and slit her throat.
A scared Shankar then tried to cut his own throat and end his life. But the neighbours who heard their fight and gone into the house rushed him to a hospital.
