Hyderabad: Youths create ruckus at ladies' hostel, 4 held

Argument over drinking forces boys to barge into hostel.

Hyderabad: A group of youngsters barged into a ladies hostel at Chaitanyapuri in an inebriated condition and created ruckus in the midnight.

The youngsters, who are inmates of a men’s hostel, pelted stones and damaged the furniture.

A case is registered and four persons were arrested. Mytri Women’s hostel is located in Kamalanagar in Chaitanyapuri under the Saroornagar police station limit.

Around 80 women reside in the hostel. The men’s hostel is located opposite to the women’s hostel and has around 60 boys.

On Sunday night, New Year celebrations started. Bhaskar Racharla, manager of Mytri hostel, objected drinking in front of the hostel. The boys picked up an argument with him and later pelted stones on Mytri hostel.

They later barged into the women’s hostel and created ruckus and damaged the furniture.

“When I tried to stop them, they assaulted me and even abused the girls,” Bhaskar said.

“For a moment, we thought that they might harm our manager. Except shouting for help, we could not do anything. This continued for at least 20 minutes,” the girls said.

Police teams were rushed to the spot and the suspects were shifted to the station. Based on a complaint from Bhaskar, a case is booked against four persons.
