Hyderabad: A 20-year-old man accused of groping a woman was arrested by the Vanasthalipuram police on Friday. The accused, Shaik Shabbir, was following the victim, a 23-year-old student, for a few days.
On September 27, the victim was heading to Balaji Nagar to board a bus to the college in Punjagutta when Shabbir came on his bike from behind, stopped the bike and groped her, according to the police.Vanasthalipuram ACP C. Gandhi Narayana said that following a complaint from the woman a case under section 354 of the IPC was registered.
Based on the CCTV footage and the number plate of the suspect’s vehicle, the police zeroed in on Shaik Shabbir, a labourer living at Talabkatta in Hyderabad, according to the police.
