Bengaluru: A 36-year-old bank employee, who had given Rs 10 lakh supari (contract) to his wife, and his three associates have been arrested by the Vyalikaval police on Thursday. Narendra Babu, 36, a resident of Vyalikaval and an attendant in a private bank, Chinnaswamy, a vegetable vendor, Abhilash, who runs an apparel shop, and Sridhar, an auto driver, are the accused. Babu has been accused of giving supari to three others to murder his wife Vinutha, 30.

According to the police, the three accused had parked an auto at Vinayaka Circle in Vyalikaval around 4 am on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the inspector of Viveknagar police station, Divakar, who was on night patrolling, saw them moving around suspiciously and detained them. Upon questioning, they revealed that they were planning to attack Vinutha, when she comes out of her house early morning and that her husband had given them supari of Rs 10 lakh, and an advance of Rs 2 lakh.

“When their autorickshaw was searched, lethal weapons and a packet of chilli powder was found. Based on their statement, the Vyalikaval police were alerted. Immediately, the police took Narendra Babu into custody and he was interrogated,” a police official said. He told police that he was married to Vinutha around 10 years ago and has a nine-year-old son. The couple had differences for the last few years and Vinutha had deserted him in 2015.

“A few months ago, she had returned and allegedly filed false cases of domestic violence and harassment with the Vyalikaval police. She was also allegedly trying to get a house in Malleswaram that belonged to Babu, in her name. He alleged that she had tried to throw his parents out of the house recently, when he had gone to office. Frustrated by all these developments, he had decided to finish her. For this, he had contacted his friends and had offered them Rs 10 lakh,” the official added. Vyalikaval police have registered a case.
