Bengaluru: Man held for theft of Panchaloha idols

The accused has been identified as Ambreesh, a native of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.

Bengaluru: A notorious robber who stole six ancient Panchaloha idols and other gold ornaments worth Rs 6 lakh was arrested by the K.R. Puram police. The accused has been identified as Ambreesh, a native of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. According to the police, he has been involved in many chain snatching cases in K.R. Puram, Marathahalli, Kadugodi, Mahadevapura, J. P. Nagar and Varthur police station limits.

He had stolen two of four Panchaloha idols, which were gifted by the emperor Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagar empire to the famous Jnanabhiramadu temple and had stolen a 31 gram gold chain from a devotee in K. R. Puram Kote Anjaneeya temple. He had also stolen two bikes in Hennur and Kothanur police station limits. The K R Puram police have registered a case and recovered six ancient Panchaloha idols, 200 grams of gold ornaments, worth Rs 6 lakh, and two bikes. The police are on lookout for his accomplice Reddy alias Subramani.
