Warden beats up Madarsa students; police file case
ANANTAPUR: About 24 students of a Madarsa school at Uravakonda in the district were thrashed severely by the warden Mahaboob Bhasha. Several students received serious injuries from his acts of violence, police said.
Sources said the Madarasa ran on the outskirts of Uravakonda town. A total of 24 students were studying there, who were either poor or orphans.
Mahaboob Bhasha, the Hajarath of the Madarsa, taught the students. Instead of proper upkeep, the teacher-cum-warden developed a habit of beating the students with hard sticks and plastic pipes.
The students with severe injuries including bleeding from their thighs and back were warned by him against informing this to their families or the higher authorities.
Sunday night, the students came out from the Madrasa and pleaded for help from a nearby mechanic’s shop. People noticed the student's pathetic condition and informed this to the Uravakonda police station.
Police rushed to the spot. The victims informed the cops that they were not being allowed to speak with their parents and that the teacher was grabbing money from them if any visitor donated any small sum to them.
The police registered a case against the warden cum teacher and informed the matters to the parents.
