School where minor was raped to reopen with new management
Hyderabad: The school education department has temporarily restored the licence of a private school, after it was revoked due to the rape of a four-year-old girl on the school premises, on the condition that there would be a complete change in the management.
Parents and senior officials of the department will be part of the management, while teachers who were complained against will be removed, a memo issued in this regard stated.
A driver of the school principal had been raping a student for over two months. The incident sparked mass protests from parents.
However, parents asked the department to restore the licence and reopen the school with different management to ensure that students’ academics were not affected.
The memo restoring the licence also stated that action would be taken against the school for flouting norms, such as starting classes 6 and 7 without permission and introducing the CBSE syllabus without requisite approvals.
