Six arrested for fake currency racket in Andhra Pradesh
KAKINADA: Buttaiyigudem police arrested six persons and seized Rs 12 lakh worth of Rs 500 fake currency notes from them. The police also seized Rs 1.50 lakh cash.
West Godavari Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sarma told reporters in Eluru that fake currency was being circulated in the vicinity of Polavaram and Jangareddygudem. The ‘notes’ are printed in Rajamahendravaram and they were circulated in a ratio of 1:3. If the person gives Rs 1 lakh rupees, then he is given Rs 3 lakh in fake currency.
The accused Yeleti Chandra Sekhar, Lagu Srinu, Papadasu Ramesh Reddy, Dorepalli Madhu Sekhar, Snigaluru Suresh and Siddani Nagaru were arrested under Section 489B, 489C, r/w 34.
Rahul Dev Sarma advised people to be on alert for such traps and said if they get information of fake currency circulation, they should inform the nearest police station.
Polavaram CI A.S.N. Murthy said that the main accused would be caught soon. Buttayidgudem SI A. Jaya Babu is investigating the case. Polavaram DSP Lalitha Kumari was also present at the press meet.
