Rajahmundry: Man kills wife with snake venom, held
Rajahmundry: A man killed his wife by injecting her with snake venom at Yedida village of Mandapeta rural mandal, on October 22. The news surfaced on Monday when the police arrested her husband as their inquiry proved that he was the culprit. According to Madapeta rural sub-inspector Vidya Sagar, one Sheik Saheed Begum hailing from Dippakalayapadu village of Koyyalagudem mandal in West Godavari got married to Mogal Saheb of Yedida village, some six years ago. He works as a tailor to support the family. The couple had two sons. As Saheb was involved in an extra-marital relationship, the couple used to quarrel on the subject. So Saheb decided to eliminate his wife.
He went to a snake charmer and bought snake venom stating that he wanted it for some homeopathy medicine. When his wife fell ill, he took her to a private nursing home at Dulla village and got her medical treatment. Later, he engaged a quack to give an injection to his wife at their home. On October 22, soon after the quack administered an injection to her for her sickness, Saheb used the same injection, loaded it with snake ven-om and administered it to her. Sensing something was amiss she screamed loudly stating that her husband had administered an injection to her. Villagers took her to a private hospital at Dulla. She died after some time.
When the police wanted to book a case, Saheed Begum’s family members said that their son-in-law was a gentleman and would never involve in such activity. However, the police got the post-mortem report, which said that the cause of death was snake venom. Saheb also confessed during interrogation to his crime. Accordingly, the police who had booked a case of suspicious death earlier altered it to a case of murder and arrested him on Monday.
