Bengaluru: IT City or Gangland? Realtor shot

Police are investigating whether Kabil's brother, who lives in Bengaluru could have been used to carry out this murder.

BENGALURU: The murder of a prominent businessman rocked the city on Sunday night, when two armed assailants gunned down the 51-year-old right in front of his house in Sanjaynagar police station limits around 10 pm on Sunday.

The police, probing the murder case of the businessman-realtor Paruchuri Surendra Kumar strongly suspect that it could be a case of a supari killing, considering the modus operandi of the assailants. A senior police official said that the killers had planned the attack meticulously. “Going by the way he was murdered in broad daylight, it looks like professional killers were hired for the job. But, we are yet to know what was the reason for the murder. Once the motive is clear, we can zero in on the persons involved.”

Mr. Kumar's advocate M. Vinod Kumar told this newspaper that his client had told him that he had received threats from Kabil Saraswath. “Kabil, was once in a key position in the security agency run by Mr. Kumar. However, Kabil is currently lodged in Mathura jail, after he cheated the company. The company had filed a case against him in Uttar Pradesh for the cheating and he was convicted. However, the police should investigate the matter and book the culprits.”
