TV reporter and MD booked for blackmail'

Alisha lodged a complaint alleging that Ravindra and Chinna had demanded Rs 5 lakh, failing which they would malign his image

KAKINADA: One Town police registered a case against CVR channel reporter Ravindra and its managing director C. Venkateswara Rao and a fisherman S. Chinna on charges of blackmailing a shipping company owner Alisha for money.

According to police, Alisha lodged a complaint against the accused, alleging that Ravindra and Chinna had contacted him a few days ago demanding Rs 5 lakh, failing which they would malign his image.

Alisha stated that the two referred to the name of channel managing director Venkateswara Rao, who they said had sent them to Alisha.

One town police station house officer, Rammohan Reddy registered a case under Sections 384, 511, 506 r/w 34 IPC and is investigating.

Meanwhile, Alisha said that he had filed a defamation case of Rs 10 crore against the channel for showing heroin smuggling links to him. Agarwal also filed a Rs 15 crore defamation case against the channel in the High Court, it is said.
