Hyderabad: A 57-year-old pedestrian was mowed down by an RTC bus at KPHB when he was going to purchase vegetables for his family on Saturday.

The victim, M. Lingaiah, a labourer, was rushed to a nearby private hospital but succumbed to his injuries, said the police. Lingaiah’s daughter B. Durga, a contract worker with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, lodged a complaint with the KPHB police stating that her father, a resident of Seri Ramireddyguda, was mowed down by a speeding RTC bus.

She said Lingaiah had left the house to get vegetables from the Rythu Bazaar in KPHB. When he was crossing the road at JNTU signal, an RTC bus (AP 28 Z 4256) which was heading towards Kukatpally from Miyapur allegedly rammed into Lingaiah.

He fell at a distance and received severe injuries to his head and face. Passersby shifted him to Remedy Hospital for treatment and informed his daughter over the phone. The KPHB police said that when Durga reached the hospital, she found that her father had succumbed to his injuries.

She lodged a complaint against the bus driver for causing the death of her father. A case has been registered under section 304 A of IPC for the probe, said the police.
