CPI-ML leader arrested in kesamudram

They recovered a pistol, two rounds of ammunition, Rs 25,000 cash and other material from him.

Warangal: A member of the CPI (ML) New Democracy (Pedda Chandraiah faction) and also Mahbubabad area committee member Nellutla Uppalaiah alias Prasad was arrested by the Mahbubabad police, New Apparajupalli Road, in Kesamudram on Sunday. They recovered a pistol, two rounds of ammunition, Rs 25,000 cash and other material from him.

Revealing the details of the arrest, Superintendent of police Mr N. Koti Reddy said Uppalaiah worked in the Chinna Chandraiah faction for about 10 years. He was accused in six cases including two murders, illegal possession of arms, threatening contractors for illegal extraction of money and also a case related to a land issue.

Mr. Koti Reddy said the party has been planning to set up new committees after several key leaders were arrested in the recent past. As part of this plan, Uppalaiah had been meeting people. The police receive information about his latest movements, intercepted and arrested him.
