Rash driving: Accused escapes from hospital
Bengaluru: Geetha Vishnu, the grandson of liquor baron late D.K. Adikesavulu, who was undergoing treatment for minor injuries at Mallya hospital after an accident, escaped from the hospital on Friday morning while in police custody.
On Wednesday night while driving his high end Mercedes Benz SUV in a rash manner, he rammed into a Maruti Omni van at South End Circle in Jayanagar.
Vishnu, along with three other occupants of the SUV, was said to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of incident and the police also found 110 gm of marijuana in the SUV. Vishnu was booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Due to the crash, the five occupants of the Omni sustained minor injuries. They picked up a fight with Vishnu over rash driving and passersby joined them. Meanwhile the other three occupants of the SUV fled the spot. Vishnu was admitted to Mallya hospital on Thursday as he had sustained minor injuries due to the accident and also because he was beaten up by passersby. On Friday morning, at around 6.15 am, he managed to escape from the emergency exit way of the hospital with the help of a person, suspected to be a hospital staff.
A case was registered at the Cubbon Park police station and four teams have been formed to nab Vishnu.
The teams checked his house in Ashoka Pillar and farmhouses in Whitefield and Chittoor, but could not find him.
