Bengaluru: Cops catch trio who stole bikes for stunts
Bengaluru: Three youth, who used to steal two wheelers to perform bike stunts and impress their girlfriends by taking them on long rides, are now cooling their heels behind bars.
Koramangala police have arrested Imran Pasha (20), Nawaz Khan alias Goru (20), both residents of Darga Mohalla, Tin Factory, and Mohammad Arif (21), a resident of Krishnan Palya and have recovered 14 two-wheelers worth Rs 7 lakh from them.
A 17-year-old boy, who used to hang around with the accused, was also detained by the police, but let off after a warning.
According to police, Imran, a mechanic by profession, initially helped Arif in selling off the bikes that he had stolen and later he himself got involved in thefts.
The accused used to lift bikes and modify them according to their wish and then used them to perform stunts on the NICE road.
They later used to sell them. The accused used to keep the stolen bikes with them for about 15 days and sell it off.
They led a lavish life with the money they got from selling the bikes.
Police said that Arif was involved in bike thefts in Ramanagara districts as well. With their arrest, the police claim to have solved 14 cases reported in different police stations.
