Visakhapatnam: A local leader of YSRC party and V. Sarabavaram sarpanch B.D.V. Lakshmi’s husband B. Raju, 35, was murdered by unidentified persons when he was returning to home at the outskirts of V. Sarabavaram under Rolugunta police station limits in Vizag district on Thursday night.
Sources said when Raju was returning to home after a chit chat with the locals at around 10.45 pm on Thursday, a group of unidentified persons attacked on Raju with sharp edged weapons and murdered him and fled from the spot. Raju was found in a pool of blood at the spot. Based on the information from the locals, the Rolugunta police led by sub-inspector K. Govinda Rao visited the crime scene.
The police are suspecting political rivalry behind the murder of Raju as his opponents have developed a grudge against him after his wife Lakshmi was elected sarpanch of the village.
The cops are also investigating the case in business rivalry angle also as Raju has entered into real-estate business and threatened some people.
“We have registered a case and investigating the case in multiple angles to nab the accused,” said Govinda Rao.
Sources said that the cops have taken few suspected persons into their custody for interrogation.
