Three held for killing brother-in-law in Hyderabad

By all accounts, the murder appears to be a spontaneous act, police said.

Hyderabad: Rachakonda police on Friday arrested three persons, including two brothers of Sushmitha Reddy, on charges of murdering her husband Lalith Aditya. One more accused is absconding.

LB Nagar DCP Tafseer Iqubal said that Sushmitha’s family was depressed with Lalith frequently beating her up on trivial matters and harassing her mentally and physically.

Unable to bear this, she had earlier gone to her parents house, where he followed her and created a nuisance and also damaged property.

He was remanded and released on bail in the same case. However, he continued to harass Sushmitha. On Wednesday, Sushmitha left him and went to her parents following a quarrel between them.

Sushmitha’s narration of her plight infuriated her brothers Yashwanth and Prashanth, who, along with their brother-in-law Saiprakash Reddy and one Saikiran Reddy, reached Lalith’s house in their car.

When Lalith opened the door, they dragged him out, pushed his friend Rahul inside and locked it from outside. Later they stabbed him and hit him with flowerpots.

“ASI Sharif, who is a tenant, tried to intervene, but they pushed him aside and fled the spot. They went to Kandukur where they purchased new clothes and burnt the bloodstained ones,” Mr Iqubal said.

By all accounts, the murder appears to be a spontaneous act, police said.

Based on credible inputs, police arrested the three, while Saikiran is absconding.
