Bengaluru: Samrat Jewellery theft bid, one more held

According to police, Shankar owns a jewellery store and is the relative of main accused Balaji Gayakwad.

Bengaluru: Vyalikaval police have arrested another accused in connection with the Samrat jewellery robbery case, where a gang of four made a failed attempt to rob the store by brandishing a gun.

The arrested person has been identified as Shankar, a resident of Chikpet. According to police, Shankar owns a jewellery store and is the relative of main accused Balaji Gayakwad.

As Shankar had incurred heavy losses in business, he along with Prahlad Chaoudari planned the robbery. They entrusted Balaji to execute the plan.

It is said that Balaji had robbed Rs 20 lakh in a heist in Satara region in Maharashtra and after that he had settled in the city.

Vyalikaval police have so far arrested six people in connection with the case. They include Balaji Gayakwad, Balwan Singh, Sriram Bisnoi, Omprakash Singh, Prahlad Choudari and Shankar.
