Hyderabad: Lineman arrested in graft case

The public is requested to inform the Anti-Corruption Bureau on 1064' toll-free number if any government employee demands a bribe.

Hyderabad: A lineman, who works for the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL), has been caught red handed by the sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau for taking a bribe of Rs 60,000 to install an electricity meter at an under construction building in Gachibowli.

At 11.30 am, the sleuths of ACB apprehended A Rajender, a lineman at TSSPDCL, when he was taking a bribe of Rs 60,000 from one B Balakrishna Reddy.

A few days ago, Rajender had reportedly demanded the bribe to do an official favour of facilitating and arranging a panel board and electricity meters for an under construction building belonging to Reddy. The latter complained to the ACB officials, who laid a trap and caught Rajender red handed when he went to collect the bribe from Reddy at his building in APHB Colony at Gachibowli.

ACB Director General, J. Purnachandra Rao said, “The accused officer has been arrested and is being produced before the Special Judge for SPE (Special Police Establishment) and ACB cases in Hyderabad. The public is requested to inform the ACB on ‘1064’ toll-free number if any government employee demands a bribe.”
