Hyderabad: Culprits traced candidates through Neet data online

Investigations revealed that the men collected Rs 50 lakh from about 20 victims.

Hyderabad: Two men accessed data from the NEET exams online, traced the qualifying candidates and targeted them by approaching them with seats in medical colleges via their fake consultancy in Somajiguda. Investigations revealed that the men collected Rs 50 lakh from about 20 victims.

Abhimanyu Kumar and Kamran Hussain collected the data of students who qualified in NEET exams. They called and informed them that they would arrange medical college seats on commission basis. The students believed the duo and approached them to arrange for seats in medical colleges.

In April 2017, they established a consultancy called Sky Bridge Infotech Consultants in Somajiguda, Police Commissioner of Hyderabad, Anjani Kumar said.

“They lured the innocent students claiming that they would arrange medical seats for them in any medical college in Bangalore as per the availability of seats. They asked for Rs 60 to Rs 80 lakh for each seat including their commission. Accordingly, they collected Rs 48 lakh from 18 candidates and then fled after closing the office,” he said.
