Bengaluru: Three arrested for murder over parking
Bengaluru: A parking row turned bloody when a 63-year-old goods vehicle driver was murdered by three drunk men on Dr Rajkumar Road in Rajaji Nagar on Thursday night.
The accused have been identified as Karthik, Rajshekhar and Janardhan, who are friends and labourers working at a factory.
The police said that the deceased, Sriram, a resident of Prakash Nagar, was returning home from work. He was trying to park his vehicle on Dr Rajkumar Road when the accused came out of a bar and stood at the parking space. Sriram asked Karthik to give way, but he refused to move. When Sriram honked and shouted, Karhtik went up to him and slapped him. Sriram took out a screwdriver from the toolbox and hit Karthik in the head, which led to bleeding. Karthik started shouting for help and Rajshekhar and Janardhan attacked Sriram. Sriram started running scared, but the duo caught up with him and slammed his head against the wall. The impact was so high that Sriram collapsed and died on the spot.
The three accused escaped, while passersby alerted the police. The Rajaji Nagar police, who rushed to the spot, searched hospitals nearby and caught Karthik, who was getting treated at a private hospital.
The accused were booked for murder and taken into custody.
